I remember the first time my yoga & Pilates studio hit $500K in sales, back in 2015 or 2016.
I remember the first time my yoga & Pilates studio hit $500K in sales, back in 2015 or 2016.
Finally I was able to pay myself the 6-figure salary I had always wanted.
I had enough money to reinvest in team and mentorship.
My schedule was starting to feel more spacious.
I was stoked!
But then a second year passed without a revenue increase, and a third.
And I realized: we were stuck.
The things we had done to get to half a million in sales weren't the things that would get us to $1M.
So naturally I assumed I needed more leads. I created a brand new front door offer. I doubled-down on a win-back campaign. I threw a ton of money into a text marketing strategy.
NONE OF IT moved the needle. In fact it felt like I was flushing money down the toilet.
So I looked around at my business, and I realized the DOMINANT energetic was actually my misaligned team members.
Gossip, back channeling, evil eyes aimed at me while I walked down the hallway. This was a part of my every day reality at the studio.
It dawned on me: I didn't actually have a lead generation problem, I had a LEADERSHIP problem.
And that problem was me.
So I dealt with it. I stepped up. I had some difficult conversations. I made some big changes to our company policies, protocols and culture.
Fast forward 12 months and we had generated $100K more in sales, as if by magic.
No ads, no new offers, no real marketing strategy (truly we barely marketed my studio back then).
Eventually I started coaching my small business owner clients in addressing misalignments on their team instead of ignoring them or letting them fester, as well as getting the right people in the right seats, and lo and behold I discovered that this one small shift in focus INEVITABLY leads to more sales for the VAST majority of small business owners (not to mention more time, joy, creativity and collaboration).
It really can be that simple.
Addressing misalignments (and taking aligned action which is the other side of that coin) is the shortcut you've been looking for.
I know that can be hard to believe, bc the bazillion-dollar marketing industry INSISTS that more marketing = more sales
So if you're still not sure if you have a leadership problem that requires your attention in order to grow, ask yourself these 5 questions:
1. Have you run out of time to DO anything else? Does your marketing or other business growth activities fall to the bottom of your to-do list?
2. Are you starting to turn clients away or put them on a waitlist because you don’t have time to serve them?
3. Are you doing a ton of shit for your business that you’ve always done but really annoys you at this point?
4. Is the vibe amongst your team ho-hum? Or even borderline toxic? Do you notice gossip? Resentment? Distrust? Power struggles?
5. Do you have misaligned team members that suck up a bunch of your mental focus and life force each day? Would your life be easier if they gave their notice?
If you answered yes to any of these q’s or all of them, you need to shift your focus AWAY from changing anything in your marketing right now because that is NOT what’s going to get you to your next income level.
But what I’m about to teach you in THE EMBODIED BOSS 12-Month Leadership Academy is.
We start in early April. I wouldn't wait --
