I **really** want you to be successful at what you do because this world NEEDS your medicine right now.
It's the first weekend of February after the longest month in the history of all time, and I've read wayyyy too many news articles this week, so I'll just cut to the chase.
I **really** want you to be successful at what you do because this world NEEDS your medicine right now.
So, with all my love and devotion, this morning I want to point out to you 5 ways you might be unconsciously repelling sales with your marketing:
1. You don't market consistently (or at all) via email and social media. I recommend you email your list (and post to your socials if your people hang out there) 2-3x a week if you have a brick-and-mortar business, and 4-5x week if you have an online one. I'm not talking about a big-ass newsletter. This could be a 1-2 sentence thing that takes 10 minutes to create. But no matter if it's long-form or short-form content, nothing can get in the way of this business growth task. It's like brushing your teeth - you don't wait until you're motivated to brush your teeth, you just do it. Same same with creating marketing content for your small business. You just do it.
2. You're rushing your prospects to your back door offer without giving them a chance to experience your magic through a little taster offer. Look I totally get it. You and I both know your premium, long-term, back-door offer IS the absolute best way for your clients to get best results. BUT, my friend, you have to let your prospects get a taste of what you have to offer before you put your big offer in front of them. It takes time for most people to feel comfortable and safe making a big commitment. Trust your funnel, and pace your marketing and sales activities so people can move through your experiences in their own time and get all kinds of great results along the way.
3. You’re disrespectful or distrustful of your audience’s buying decisions. The quickest way to get me to not buy your stuff as to insult me in your marketing or sales pitch. I'm not disempowered in my buying or investment strategies, and I'm deeply connected to own felt sense of right timing. And I would assume you're the same way. So when you’re in a sales conversation and your prospect says they’re not ready to make an investment, try saying "Ok friend, I'll be here when you are." Period, end of sales conversation. This not only feels better for both of you than shame or manipulation or distrust, but it’s also a great long-term play that will likely result in a future sale.
4. Your launches are too short for your audience to truly understand what your offer is and how it can help them. I see this all the time with my small business owner clients. Whether they're launching a teacher training or retreat or series or coaching course, they don't give their audience NEARLY enough time to understand who the offer is for, and whether now is the right time for them to invest or not. People need to hear about your offer consistently for weeks if not months on end (heck most people in my coaching audience spend at least two years reading my emails before they feel ready to make a purchase!)
5. Your Calls-to-Action are weak, nonspecific, or nonexistent and that’s why and people don’t buy your offers because they don’t even know they exist! This one is so simple to solve (yet so elusive for many of us!) Every time you make a piece of content, whether it's a social media post or a youtube vid or a webinar or an email to your list, you MUST include a compelling call-to-action so your audience can understand how they can actually work with you and/or your team, and get the results they're after.
If you're not doing this with care and thoughtfulness each week, you are leaving money on the table.
