It can get real ugly, real fast when two of your team members aren't getting along.

It can get real ugly, real fast when two of your team members aren't getting along.

It's uncomfortable, it's stressful and it can take over everyone's brain space.

And while it's easy to blame the whole dynamic on one or both of them, the truth is it's YOUR JOB as the leader of your small business to create clear channels of communication and a culture of respect and collaboration amongst your team members.

We'll talk more about what that can look like next week during my free 3-day masterclass, DRAMA FREE DREAM TEAM.

But in the meantime, you probably want to know what you can do NOW to help clean this up.

Here are my top 3 tips for managing a soured relationship between two of your contributors:

1. Set professional boundaries around communications.

Email documentation and official meetings to record and discuss the issue? Yes. Side bar text rants or bitch sessions behind closed doors? Absolutely not.

Even if this isn’t how it's been in the past, today that ends so we can all set sail for calmer waters.

2. Pick a side. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you're most likely going to have a pick a side.

If you don't, you'll likely lose BOTH team members and I'd bet my money you don't want that.

If there's a clearly misaligned team member, this will be a good time to let them go or manage them out. If it's not so clear, think about which one of these team members will be the right choice to keep on the team in the long term, and act accordingly.

3. Get emotional & strategic support from the outside.

You will likely need to process your own emotions as well as talk through how to proceed before you hold your meetings and make any decisions or communications.

Talk to your business bestie, partner, therapist, lawyer and/or mentor at length about the situation, until you feel clarity on what to say and do.

But DO NOT process your feelings out loud with other team members.

I feel for you, friend. This is never fun.

But you CAN learn how to spot better hires, address misalignments before they fester, and prioritize culture, transparency and professionalism so that this doesn't happen again (or at minimum, so you know exactly what to do if and when it does.)

This is Embodied Leadership.

And I’m going to teach you the exact 3 steps to make it your every-day reality inside your small business.
